In the Meantime
So, I broke my hip and had it replaced with one made of Titanium. I ended up with a four or five inch scar on my rear end the under-skin portion of which hurt for almost two months. Surgery went well and I am now off all meds and returning slowly to my walking regimen. A little pain here or dizziness there but nothing to stop me from getting back in shape. Hospital stays are a thing nobody wants but all are glad to have had once you’re getting health back.
I’ve been doing considerable amounts of thinking about these times we are in. Brought on by my hospital stay which also reminded e of how old I am now and the time I have left which, as you know, remains unspecified. I think about it from time to time but not enough to bring me down orto feel desperate. Vietnam taught me that death is inevitable and the way one dies has more to do with fear than the fact of death.
We are human. We thus, die in time, shorter or longer. I never expected to live this long, seventy-eight. I look only at waking in the morning and that is good enough to know that I have yet another day. I pray at night and give thanks for being alive and for the preceding day. I always remember to give thanks to God for being able to walk, breathe, take water, all life givers. I take little for granted as I ahve seen so much a person once had taken either in material goods or health. To watch a friend waste away and die is depressing but part of all we know if we don’t shy away from reality.
Shying away from reality is what people who protest do. What many politicians do. What thieves and ne’er do wells do. Me, I try to always be available to help others but with discretion as no one is helped by being foolish.
Anyhow, it has been a great day in my simple way, walking. That’s all. I get my sense of God, Earth, people, and great satisfaction from moving just my legs to take me from one vista to another be those vistas only homes, others people walking, or a cloud meandering across the blue expanse of the sky. My sky. Your sky. You really should start walking you know? I should have died at sixty-five from drunkenness. I lived though. I thanked God for my restoration of life. I walked onward to here. I learned to build websites and work with servers before A.I. It is good to walk as many blessings come to you from simplicity.
